Among the umpteenth questions that keep hounding in the minds of young students these days is how soon can I finish my degree program be it in Medicine or Engineering! As if the only aim of education and having this life is getting a degree stuck on the house wall and people typically clapping their way out for the pretentious victory the student has made getting this sheet of paper. What a waste! 

If only students and people understand education is not just about the degree but a pursuit of knowledge and great experiences in the journey while studying any undergraduate program. Duration shouldn’t matter. Every child is different with different attributes as well as learning skills. As parents we should respect their identity and not judge them of their academic excellence as their highest parameters to being intelligent. We should give them the liberty to take as much time to explore what they truly want to contribute towards society as well as for their personal growth.

 

A child who knows how to tackle difficult situation, understands the value of love, respect and patience will be more adaptable in his life than the one who has achieved just good grades. This takes time and hence we need to inculcate in every child to know the fact why there is no need to hurry getting a degree. Instead he/ she should be motivated to get informed and take independent decision rather than be in the rat race of getting successful in life at the earliest. Nobody is getting a reward for getting an early education. What matters is the passion and happiness derived in the process of learning.. whatever choices the student makes.
